Amor de Mar is a beautiful little hotel nestled on the beach just off the beaten track in Montezuma. The resort is designed around pure relaxation, there are hammocks strategically placed along the front facing the beach and a lovley sea facing dining area, the gardens are stunning and very well maintained. We stayed in Casa Luna an amazing villa with the most amazing views of the ocean.

Architectures is unbelievable; you have open space to the outside and the ocean breezes lull you to sleep. Wonderful people all around the hotel. Very, very clean.
Very peaceful, picturesque with wonderful sea view…i especially liked hanging out in the hammock under the mango tree where one could sit for hours! A great place to get away from the busy town center. Breakfast and lunch was great! wished they were also serving dinner. Very tastefully decorated rooms and lots of green. Best place in montezuma!

We loved the location with the garden going right down to the ocean & lovely swimming spots. Just a few minutes walk into the lovely town of Montezuma.

The addition to detail throughout every aspect of this hotel from the room, fittings, art, scent, color, gardens, location, staff and view is beyond superb! A photo opportunity everywhere you look, a most magical place. One of the most beautiful places I’ve being lucky enough to stay at.

I have stayed at this property before and this past stay was as great as ever. Recent renovations created an even better experience. The landscaping on the property is by far the best of any hotel in which I have ever stayed, the staff friendly and courteous and the town of Montezuma is one of a kind. While it is off the beaten path and takes a bit of effort to get to, it is worth the effort. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful and fun filled location, this can’t be beat.

This hotel is located on a lovely spot with a beautiful garden facing the ocean. In the garden you can relax in one of the hammocks scattered in the garden. I had the Sunday brunch which offered all you can whish for! I would definitely go back!

Hotel Amor de Mar is simply the best hotel to stay at in Montezuma. True…I HAVEN’T stayed at other hotels in Montezuma, but from visiting the town and seeing all the other options, I can’t imagine a more ideal spot. Not only is the view out of this world (the pictures don’t even do it justice! Endless hammocks, waves breaking on the rocks RIGHT outside the hotel, palm trees, swimming holes, birds), but the trail to the waterfalls in Montezuma that everybody wants to hike are literally RIGHT across the street! If you’re driving around everywhere in Costa Rica like we were, its so nice to have one day of rest where you can walk to everything your heart desires. And, the rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay here longer. Fantastic. Do it.

My partner and I stayed for four fantastic nights and had many delicious breakfasts. Would very highly recommend. Lovely staff, gorgeous location, great food – can’t ask for more. Dragging ourselves away is tough!

A great property with relaxing private grounds – just a five minute walk to town. It is also across the street to the entrance to Montezuma Falls (a 15 minute hike beyond the entrance). Warm and inviting service from every staff member. They organized our taxi to/from airport, diving and transportation for the day trip to Santa Teresa. We had an issue that was quickly and flawless addressed and resolved. A very nice breakfast and lunch. Stay in Casa Luna (wow) if available!

We had a seriously great two night stay here in February 2015. It is picture perfect, we looked out of our window directly upon the Sea and whiled away several hours on our little veranda, reading and just soaking in the view. The room was air-conditioned (Montezuma can get very humid), had it’s own fridge and was extremely spacious. The staff were super-helpful and friendly and whilst the breakfast isn’t included (unusual for Costa Rica), the weekend buffet is great (The Huevos Rancheros was fantastic!) The hotel has plenty of hammocks, its own private tidepools, and is 20 minutes hike to the waterfalls where you can swim in a natural pool. It is also within a few minutes walk of several great restaurants (Puggo’s and Organico, in particular). Book with confidence!
